SMTown Live '09 Update

Dong Bang Shin Ki, Super Junior, So Nyeo Shi Dae etc will come together for SMTown Live concert this year again.

SMTOWN LIVE 09 will take place on 16th August from 5pm till 10 pm in SEoul JamSil Olympic stadium. The artistes from SM Entertainment like Dong Bang Shin Ki, Super Junior, Jang Ri In, So Nyeo Shi Dae, SHINee etc will be performing in front of their fans.

The artistes will be putting up a variety of performances. And also for this concert, there will be a special performing guest appearing.

Sales to the tickets to the concert will start on 23rd July on GMarket.

If you haven’t heard the massive hit that is “sorry sorry”, you’ve probably been living on another planet. The infectious dance tune has spawned a sucessful music video (filmed in an impressive single take), countless spoofs on video-sharing websites like Youtube and won numerous accolades since it’s release two months back. The geniuses behind this popular track? Korea’s most sucessful pop act of recent years, SJ, of course! For this and many other reasons, we’ve fallen under the spell of this 13 member boy group. Check out the top 3 ways we adore them!

1. TALENT SPOT.
Even as competition between the many boy groups in Korea continues to sizzle, SJ is pulling away fast from their peers with their brand of jazzy dance tracks and musical versatility. Their debut album, Super Junior 05 released in 05 catapulated the 13 member group into stardom, and it’s safe to say that they haven’t looked back since. Back with a brand new album, the 3rd and sophomore effort, Sorry SOrry, boasts the same formulaic R&B/hiphop/pop tunes that cemented their status as the reigning act in Korea. Other than the catchy title track, the album showcases a wide range of genres including bass-heavy “club no.1″ and soulful ballads like “happy together”. Sure enough, it landed at the top of the charts in its first week of release!

2. FRIENDS FOREVER
Before you assume it is all about sweet-smelling roses for the boys, the group has suffered it’s fair share of thorny criticisms and hurdles. From being caught lip-syncing onstage, to being plagued by injuries, SJ or Suju as they;re more popularly known, has experienced it all! So what do the boys do to give themselves a morale boost? They rely on one another, naturally! Not only are they well known for their strong sense of camaraderie despite the inconveniently large group size, group leader Leeteuk has even been voted as BEST IDOL GROUP LEADER BY NETIZENS. SJ’s Heechul agrees, “Eventhough he gets angry at us, he always hugs and apologizes in the end.”

3. WONDER BOYS
They need all the support they get from one another in this dog-eat-dog business. In order to maximise their earning potential, SJ has formed several subgroups, although they remain more sucessful as a group of 13! Just look at their amazing choreography in the title track and you’ll get a sense that this is a group that means serious business! We especially dig the way the boys at the recent Golden Melody Awards, wowed industry veterans and adoring crowds with a show stopping performance of their own chart topper. Impressive!

Sukira DJs Changes for 2 days

On the 15th and 16th, SUKIRA will be bora, but Eunteuk wont be DJing those 2 nights.

On the 15th, SNSD will be DJing, then on the 16th, SHINee will being DJing.

Why? Cause Super Show II is very near now. I guess the boys will be rehearsing and resting. ^^

The Top Hallyu Stars Among Foreigner

Arirang Showbiz Extra surveyed over 3000 members in 60 coutries including the USA, Vietnam, and Philippines to see who the top hallyu stars are and Super Junior came out on the top as Best Male singer of ‘09. They won 41.9% of the votes. 2nd Place goes to their best friends DBSK with 33.6%.

Others:

SHINee won Super Rookie (57%) – 2pm took 2nd place with 19.7% and FT Island with 15.6%

SNSD won Best Female Singer . Boa came in 2nd place. Boa lost by .4o%.

KimBum(BOF) won Super Rookie in Drama, 2nd place went to Lee Minho

Lee Junki won Best Actor (37.7%), 2nd place went to Rain with 28.9%

Song Hye Gyo won Best Actress with 49.5% of votes.

Who are SHINee’s stars?

Minho: Justin Timberlake. Usher. The concept of singing while dancing is really cool.
In Korea, it would be DBSK, Shinhwa, and Super Junior. They are sunbaenims that I’ve liked since I was little.

Ahah, Minho really adores his hyungs a lot. He mentions them A LOT! and his love for soccer is unbreakable. i find it funny that he loves soccer so much. Poor, Taeminnie, he’s sad cause MJ died.

We hear that in SM, there are a lot of singers such as Xiah Junsu and Super Junior who likes soccer.

Onew: In our company, we have SM United. We haven’t had a official match before but we are very happy to be together, it’s very interesting. [i wanna see all of them play soccer together.]

Minho: We only just entered the team, when we debuted, we automatically got a place in the team. (laughs) We even have our attires already but because of our individual schedules, we haven’t gotten together to play soccer. Soccer is something that I like the most, if I play I must play midfielder, the hyungs gave me the Number 10 shirt. Number 10 is the symbol of the midfielder, I was really happy to when I got Number 10.

Do you usually talk to other singers about soccer?

Minho: I watch soccer with the hyungs of Super Junior, we talk while we watch, and when we play soccer together we talk about things related to it too. I also play winning game with the Dong Bang Shin Ki hyungs, and also talk a lot about soccer.

Music Bank needs to Apologize

With regards to the “lighting structure incident”, KBS Music Bank production has expressed that they “will be more careful next time”, but this has not put a stop to the end of criticism.

On the 29th, KBS2TV Music Bank’s production team has talked about the safety of the structure in an interview with regards to the lighting structure incident that “At that time, the performers who were present at the ending stage were making their way to the waiting rooms, and this caused the structure to shake (theyre blaming it on the singers?? ),” “Luckily, the staff were able to support the structure in time and this preventing any casualties. This incident however has also raise the awareness of staff when dealing with safety of the stage. In the future, we will pay more attention to the preparation work for the broadcast.” Through saying this, they also implied their apologies.

On the 26th during the live broadcast of Music Bank, a giant lighting structure fell after the first place winner was announced. The production clarified that “There are no casualties” but that popular group SHINee’s member Onew had fainted, shocking fans in the midst. The manager had quickly carried him back to the waiting room and after a quiet rest, he was sent to the hospital for further checks in order to prevent any after-effects. He was said to be physically unhurt but had received a very big trauma psychologically. Some fans who were present have uploaded videos of the situation then online.

Prior to this, Onew had injured his ankle after slipping on the stage that was wet from 2NE1’s performance which used water. With regards to this, the production team said that they did clean the water from the stage but apparently had not handled it well, and that they would be more careful next time. However, the fanboard of the show as well as various fan cafes are still adamant that Music Bank give a formal apology, with the demand going very strong.

Some of the fans are incredulous and are trying to suppress their anger. “So this is an apology? Have them apologise.” Most f the fans pointed out that “The apology content is not sincere at all, it’s just superficial lies. We insist that they do a formal apology.”

Especially in the apology by Music Bank which states that “Because of the staff who were able to support the structure in time, there was no casualties”, the fans are even unhappy about it. The fans who were at the venue that day proved that “Some of the staff were only concerned about escaping from the structure themselves.” The fans also expressed that “While the staff members were busy trying to protect themselves, it was Super Junior members Siwon and Kyuhyun as well as members of 2PM who managed to support the structure in time.” They also said that “To spread lies like this is very displeasing.”

On the other hand, with regards to the singers who were injured through this incident, no apology was made, and this was enough to cause a public uproar. Aside from SHINee member Onew, Super Junior’s Sungmin had also injured his knee during rehearsal, but Music Bank had only mentioned Onew. Sungmin had injured his leg halfway through rehearsal after tripping on a stage prop. Even though he was sent to the hospital immediately to receive stitches, he still went on to perform on the live broadcast, displaying professionalism that had won him the praises of the audience.

Other than the fans, when pictures of the lighting structure that is almost as high as a single storey building were uploaded online, besides the comments about Onew’s fainting and well-wishes for him, there were many more comments of the negligence of the production team in checking the lighting equipment as well as the slowness in response from the staff that came under fire.
